7am Spring Snap, Fixed by 9 — Lemon Grove
Emergency call: a snapped torsion spring left a Lemon Grove family's car trapped in the garage. Both springs replaced as a pair, door back online in under two hours.
A snapped torsion spring is the most common emergency we get — and the most dangerous one to DIY. This Lemon Grove customer called at 7am with their car trapped inside. We were on-site by 9.
What we did
- Replaced both torsion springs as a pair (when one goes, the other is close behind)
- Matched the wire gauge and cycle rating to the door weight
- Inspected the cables and drums while the door was unloaded
- Re-set the opener force and ran a balance test
Why replace in pairs?
Springs are rated in cycles, and both sides have logged the same wear. Replacing only the broken one means a second emergency call within months. Doing the pair is the honest fix.
